After its emergency decision to cut its policy rate to 0.25% and launch a quantitative easing (QE) program, the Bank of Canada told us that it will not be taking interest rates negative. Instead, it hinted that providing funds at a subsidised rate to incentivise banks to lend might be its next major step, while yield-curve control could come further down the line.
