Graduate Staff Profiles

  • Bradley Saunder

    Bradley Saunders

    Assistant Economist

  • Bachelors degree, University and course: University of Bath, BSc (Hons) Economics with Placement Year
  • Capital Economics Graduate Scheme, applicable dates: September 2022 – present

Why did you apply to join the Capital Economics graduate scheme?

I always found macroeconomics to be the most interesting part of my studies at university and wanted a job where I could utilise the theory I’d learnt and apply it to a real-life context, which is when I discovered Capital Economics. The graduate scheme was especially appealing given the opportunity to rotate between different teams across both macroeconomics and markets, as well as the offer of funding for a Masters degree and regular knowledge classes, which showed the company prioritised my development as an economist.

What have you worked on while on the graduate scheme?

I began the graduate scheme on the Commodities team, where I took the lead on our coverage of agriculturals. During this time I wrote regular publications for the service, oversaw our agricultural price forecasts and took part in a podcast discussing some of my research. I am now nearing the end of my second rotation, which has been with the Global Markets team (focusing on FX markets in particular). Whilst on the team I have contributed to research across different services and led the team’s contribution to this year’s Spotlight series of research, looking at the implications of AI for financial markets.
