Mortgage applications were once again stable in September, with a small fall in refinancing applications offset by a small rise in home purchase demand. Mortgage rates hit another record low by the end of the month but, with the 10-year Treasury yield rising since then, we doubt they will fall further. Coupled with record low inventory that implies home purchase demand will edge back over the next few months.
