Single-family building permits increased for the seventh month in a row in November. And, with homebuilder confidence hitting a 20-year high in December, starts are set for another year of steady growth. Low mortgage rates, combined with a lack of existing homes for sale, have supported new home demand. Both of those factors will remain supportive over 2020, helping starts to increase to around 980,000 annualised by the end of the year.
