Latin America has without doubt been one of the major beneficiaries of recent growth in China. But while exports to China have grown ten-fold over the past five years or so, this overstates the true extent to which the region has benefitted from China’s development. What’s more, in contrast to the prevailing view amongst most commentators, there are good reasons to think that China will now provide less of a boost to Latin American growth.
