Japan's economy barely grew at all in the second quarter as domestic demand fell and rising imports offset most of the smaller boost from slowing exports. The markets are still focused on the yen, but it is worth watching fiscal developments too: today's disappointingly weak data make it even less likely that the government will move quickly to tackle the huge public debt.
