The majority of the monthly data released ahead of the crucial Tankan survey (to be published this Friday) has been upbeat. In particular, household spending has begun to recover from the slump in Q3. Wage growth remains disappointing, but the continued improvement in hiring plans suggests that a tighter labour market will put more upward pressure on inflation next year.
