The recession has ended in most countries in the narrow sense that GDP is picking up again. But this is still a “feel bad” recovery, where consumers are unwilling to contribute as much as they would usually do, even if they are able. Indeed, the recovery may already be faltering in Germany and perhaps in Japan too, although growth in the US and China will remain strong for a while yet.
