Sterling’s ‘Boris bounce’ may have mostly run its course

After a stellar performance in the final few months of 2019, sterling has been the only G10 currency to weaken against the US dollar since the Conservative Party’s election win on 12th December. While we forecast that the pound will strengthen a touch this year, we think that the uncertainty surrounding a UK-EU trade deal will stop it from going to the races.
