Prospects for monetary policy suggest upside for cable is limited

Although a significant decline in the gap between the real yields of US TIPS and UK index-linked Gilts appears to have contributed to the sizeable rise in dollar/sterling (cable) since the end of June, we suspect that the gap will only shrink a little more from here, capping the upside for the exchange rate.
