The yield of 10-year US Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS) has now fallen to around the same level that it was in the spring of 2013, shortly before it surged. Nonetheless, we think that the yield is unlikely to rise sharply again any time soon. Indeed, while we forecast that it will remain close to its level now, we would not be surprised if it edged further below zero.
