Housing market on a knife edge

While the housing market has reopened, there are still limited data on the pace of improvement. Given the economic damage, uncertainty and weak pipeline of in-progress housing sales, we expect the recovery in activity to be gradual. Meanwhile, the main indices show house prices starting to fall. We expect the coming drop in prices to be limited to 4%, but there are big downside risks to that view.
