Vaccine plans and politics, Cuba libre-lisation

Policymakers across Latin America are stepping up efforts to distribute vaccines, with Mexico and Chile set to roll out the (approved) Pzifer/BioNTech jab within just a few weeks. However, most of the region is banking on other vaccines which have yet to be given the green light, while political infighting in Brazil adds another challenge to the roll-out of vaccines there. Meanwhile, Cuba’s battered economy will be hit with some shock therapy in the new year as the country gradually moves towards a more market-based system.   This is our last Weekly of 2020, and the next edition will be published on 8th January. To all those celebrating, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
