Senate edging closer to deal to reopen government

The Senate appears to be edging closer to a deal to reopen the Federal government and raise the debt ceiling. There is a risk that the Republican-controlled House will initially reject that agreement or at least try and make some minor amendments to it. Nevertheless, even under those circumstances, there would still be time to broker a successful deal shortly after the Treasury's deadline of this Thursday. The risk of the Treasury being forced into a debt default is still very low.
