Fiscal uncertainty likely to be an ongoing problem

Regardless of how the current debt ceiling negotiations pan out, the bigger problem is that there has been an almost complete breakdown in the working relationship between both sides in Congress. As a result, even if the debt ceiling ends up being raised without a protracted fight, we now fear that Congress will stagger from one budget crisis to the next, making uncertainty over fiscal policy a constant headwind holding back economic growth.
